11th international theater festival for young audiences

From May 17 to 25, 2025, the HELIOS Theater invites productions for young audiences from all over the world to Hamm and the surrounding area to create unforgettable theatrical experiences.

Every two years, international artists gather at hellwach to bring theater for everyone to the stage. Since 2002, the festival has created a space for encounters, togetherness and exchange.

Interdisciplinary exchange is at the forefront of hellwach . A wide variety of theater for young audiences is presented in the different venues. The invited plays combine music, drama and object theater, figures and different materials. hellwach offers theater for people of all languages and generations.

This year's program follows the idea of a theater for all. The very youngest, their adult companions, young and older adults - everyone should feel addressed. Plays will be performed in: Ahlen, Bergkamen, Lünen and Hamm. The program includes plays from Germany, France, Senegal, Belgium, the Ukraine and Mexico.

The festival is organized by the HELIOS Theater team in cooperation with its partner cities. In addition to the various theatrical performances, the festival center, the HELIOS Theater in Hamm, offers an extensive supporting program. The invited artists will talk about their work in discussions. They will talk about their experiences and reflect on current developments in the field of theater for young audiences - in general and in their respective countries.

The guests will include productions from Rwanda, France, Belgium, Germany, Mexico, Senegal, Ukraine and Egypt.
